Anxious people understand all too well that overcoming anxiety takes time and change. But during that time, there are small ways that can help you to let go of anxiety once and for all:

  1. Don’t go on WebMD. Just don’t do it. It’s not worth the paranoia that you could possibly have a crazy disease when you know it’s probably not true.
  2. Let your music be the soundtrack to your life. Listening to your favorite artists become narrators of your life can be reassuring.
  3. Take a nice hot bath. There’s no shame in treating yourself to a warm bath because it can take away all that exhaustion from dealing with crazy co-workers and tedious class work.
  4. Try to take classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays…so you can have MWF off to do your work and not worry about the stress of turning something in on time.
  5. Take a long walk…at the park, around the neighborhood, wherever makes you feel at peace. Don’t be afraid to talk out your thoughts a little bit because it stops you from overthinking.
  6. Go on an adventure with friends. It can be as something as small as a carnival or as big as a spontaneous road trip. Either way, allow yourself to have some freedom and freedom is even more bad a** when you do it with friends.
  7. Don’t hold back on affection. Hugs and kisses can take away the tension that causes you to be anxious. Don’t be afraid to be affectionate even if you’re not the best at it.
  8. Take a break from social media. There’s nothing wrong with liking or posting, but it can be mentally exhausting which is why it helps to unplug from what’s happening in everyone’s lives, so you can focus on your own.
  9. Pray…to whoever you believe in and even if you’re not religious, meditate. Getting in touch with your spiritual side can help reduce your worries.
  10. Have a meal by yourself…because spending time with yourself can help you to feel comfortable in your own skin so you don’t feel so anxious around others.
  11. Plan things way ahead of time…so you don’t have to partner with anxiety to get them done last minute. Life’s so much easier when you can watch Netflix without procrastinating over work.
  12. Take deep breathes. Practice breathing into your stomach, so in the event that anxiety takes control, you’re able to exhale it out before it can run its course.
  13. Watch a movie with your BFF…and don’t forget popcorn and candy. Oh, and talking about the movie too.
  14. Take the time to dwell on the good times…because it helps to think about the memories that make you laugh and smile. Good times help you to look forward to a great furture.
